CAIRO, Egypt - Minister of Natural Resources & Labour, Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (R2) has revealed that he has invited The Rt Hon Lord Frank Zacharias Robin Goldsmith, who is the UK Minister for Overseas Territories, Commonwealth, Energy, Climate and Environment at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), to visit the Virgin Islands (VI) and see the work of the Government of National Unity regarding reforms to the Public Service.

“It is important to recognize and strengthen the work that’s being done on an international, regional and local level to better the Virgin Islands and charter our own course. We look forward to The Rt. Hon. Lord Goldsmith’s tangible support while we build a BVI we can be proud of for generations to come,” Hon Turnbull said in a statement released today, November 15, 2022.

Ministers attending COP27 in Egypt

Hon Turnbull's statement comes as he is currently attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheik, Egypt, as a key player in the representation of overseas territories and small-island developing states, whose livelihoods are increasingly affected by the effects of climate change.

The Minister in a statement added that he was pleased to meet and liaise with incoming Lord Goldsmith after he has replaced the Rt. Hon Jesse Norman MP who served for a brief period following Rt. Hon. Amanda Milling MP.

“Among the issues discussed was a need for a truer representation of the OTs at international conferences such as COP27, considering that the OTs make up about 90% of the UK’s oceans and areas significantly affected by climate change.”

Hon Turnbull said the appointment of The Rt Hon Lord Goldsmith as OT Minister is in fact opportune, as his professional interests and innate passions comprise nature and the environment. During their meeting, The Rt. Hon expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity he now has to develop those areas in our respective territories he said.

Several OTs represented along with world leaders

The Minister revealed that the OTs represented at COP27 were the British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, and Falkland Islands, amongst other world leaders including the new UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Barbados Prime Minister Mia A. Mottley, U.S. President Joe Biden, and the host President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt.

“Further OT representation will follow COP15 in December of this year and again at COP28 in 2023. It’s incumbent upon OT leaders to continue conversations such as this, so that our priority areas can be presented to the UK in a way that results in meaningful change,” he said.

Hon Turnbull revealed that the UK OT Minister has indicated that he is pleased to be the representative for OTs and has pledged his support in coordinating financial and technical resources to mitigate the effects of climate change across the OT regions.

Stop wasting money and minding the catholic church. There is nothing man can do to fix the climate. God is the Creator and the one in control. The climate change is indicative of His soon return.

If you believe God created this beautiful world, and that he created us with “free will”, then you must also believe that he created us to be responsible stewards of his creation. We can’t trash his creation and expect God to do the cleaning up after us!

So if you are inviting him to come to the VI, you must be going to fly him around in a helicopter because these roads will break his back, front, and sides, sending him back home in a neck and back brace. You shouldn't invite any outsiders here until these death trap roads are fixed!

Oh wow, guess he is going to enjoy a nice bumpy ride on the deplorable falling apart roads, a nice whiff of the raw sewage that is running in the streets and get a birds eye view of a burning garbage dump that is blowing dangerous toxins in the air, need i say more? Grandma always say don’t invite visitors to your home if it is DIRTY AND NOT IN ORDER. WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO EMBARRASS YOURSELF LIKE THAT?

How can you invite someone over to dinner when the house is nasty and the food is cooked in a dirty pot. What are you doing man? What have you done Mitch? Tree branches slapping your vehicle, sewage running in the street, dump site burning on the daily, everywhere you drive your vehicle dropping in holes or you have to dodge pot holes. Stop trying to big up yourself and kiss A** so much. See the type of simpletons that have Ministry?

@ Dunce. If Turnbull had done this on line he won’t be able to take a picture with the Minister for Overseas Territories, he and the no clue Premier love their pictures taken with the UK ministers and the King but talk bad about the UK every chance they get. I hope that the Hon. Lord Goldsmith will see firsthand why the UK needs to take over the BVI.

@My Goodness, I see what you are saying but maybe it's for the good that the Minister for Overseas Territories Hon Lord Frank Zacharias Robin Goldsmith see's for himself why the UK needs to take over.
