LONDON, UK – United Kingdom (UK) Health Secretary Matt Hancock has resigned from his post after he was found breaching social distancing guidance by kissing a colleague.

Hancock’s resignation came after intense scrutiny over UK Government officials making rules that they did not follow.

The pressure mounted on Hancock to quit, after UK Newspapers ‘The Sun’ published pictures of Hancock and aide Gina Coladangelo kissing inside the Department of Health.

Rule makers must follow the rules - Mr Hancock

In a video posted on Twitter, Mr Hancock said: "I have been to see the Prime Minister to resign as secretary of state for health and social care.”

"I understand the enormous sacrifices that everybody in this country has made, that you have made, and those of us who make these rules have got to stick by them and that's why I have got to resign," he said.

In his resignation letter, Hancock reiterated his apology for "breaking the guidance" and he apologized to his family and loved ones for "putting them through this".

Since the start of the COVID-19, several officials of the UK Government have been fingered in alleged corrupt practices over contracts and the blatant disregard of COVID-19 guidelines.

Report finds high Corruption in UK

Campaign group Transparency International UK in a report, further identified some 73 'questionable contracts' in the UK regarding the countries COVID-19 response.

While the UK Government of Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson has been keen to carry out a Commission of Inquiry (CoI) on unfounded allegations of corruption in the Virgin Islands (VI), his government has resisted a CoI even as evidence of corruption is presented.

As part of its report, Transparency International UK found a fifth of UK government contracts awarded to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 contained red flag indicators of possible corruption.

Mr Hancock you did the honorable thing. Wonder when we will ever see some honorable people here in tortola. Thumbs up for the UK, no COI needed to remove the minister.

Yes. Fingered and resigning. Doesn't happen here. No accountability, no responsibility, no shame - just cover ups and support from the speaker the shouter and the silent (whoever he or she is.) And of course the population keep on reelecting the same one over and over again.

The UK wanted to get rid of him long time so they used this as an excuse. The Prime Minister of UK Boris Johnson ten times worse than this and he ain't resigning or asked to resign so the UK hypocrisy continues.
