ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Pastor of the New Life Baptist Church in Duff's Bottom, Tortola, Bishop John I. Cline has accused the United Kingdom (UK) of attempting direct rule and imposing policies on the Virgin Islands (VI) and other British OTs under the guise of a ‘global Britain’.

Bishop Cline was at the time speaking in a social media video made public on March 16, 2021, and later shown on the My BVI radio show.

Pointing to the ‘Global Britain and the British Overseas Territories: Resetting the relationship” 2017-2019, parliamentary report, he illustrated that demands about beneficial ownership registers, legalising same-sex marriage, the Blue Belt Programme and the removal of Belongership status have compounded concerns about the UK and its future relationship with OTs.

'Pattern of initiatives stacked against OTs'

“When you analyse this report suspiciously, one can see that there is a pattern of initiatives stacked against the OTs for the UK to regain control of these territories.”

“If you are asking us that we must eradicate Belongership and it's equivalent… It is an attempt to have direct rule, take control of our immigration, also override our social and moral substratum and control our political future,” Bishop Cline said.

The clergyman reasoned that UK demands regarding public registers of beneficial ownership of companies registered in the VI would bring the VI economy to its knees.

Bishop Cline also opined that the UK trying to force the VI to legalise same-sex marriage is having a blatant disregard for the beliefs and moral standards of the Overseas Territories.

“If you're saying to us we must legalise same-sex marriage, your aim at frustrating the social and moral and cultural fibre of these territories that have a high biblical standard for marriage,” he said.

UK attempting direct rule - Bishop Cline

According to Mr Cline, the UK is building a plethora of missiles stacked against the Overseas Territories, “no representation, no consultation, just want to pass down these things. It is an attempt for direct rule in a way that will meet world standards,” he said.

On the My BVI radio show, Mr Cline reiterated his concerns, while pointing to the UK demands as problematic, on the premise that Britain is looking to undermine the VI’s economy, especially as it related to public registers of beneficial ownership.

Pointing out agendas that negatively impact people of color may make people feel uncomfortable but it is not racist.

Don’t ask us to forget the journey while expecting of us to repeat it. Not renaming place names of slave masters as an official position hmmm

Because you all killed off every living human being that first settled these lands...men, women and child. Then you sick creatures tried to destroy us until we burnt down all your homes that we built and sent you running for your miserable lives. This should tell you all that you’re messing with the wrong human beings!

I read the document, the worry the government has is people from the UK and OT's who reside here would be allowed to vote.

Long term residents and tax payers allowed to vote!!! Shock horror!! We can't have that; it might disrupt the power of the small cabal that runs everything so well, here!

Just look at how good the telecoms, roads and water and sewerage infrastructure is!! Don't interfere with a successful model!!!

If they try anything to do with promoting same sex sodomite ways. It is worse yes.
Also, they are still the deepest set of racist, smile in your face and feel they are a superior race. At least American racist let you know how they feel. With that racist mentality engrained in them, there can be no good coming from there direct rulership.

I prefer the present lot, my fellow kind who knows and feel the same pressures from these sickos worldwide.

How late are you Mr Cline? That document was produced months and months ago and it was referenced in the BVI forums and it is a DISCUSSION document. There is nothing wrong with homosexuality in either females or males and using Christianity to hide behind is BS. The world has moved on from drowning witches, maybe the BVI should stop its persecution of people as well.

Anyone who reads the report can see the dishonesty in what Cline says. Cut to the conclusion; it states the design is for U.K. to have less control of OTs - even for OTs to have more say and scrutiny of what happens in Westminster that may affect us.
So we here have to ask ourselves why the deceit here from such people

Solve problems by examining them only through the eyes of race and you will get results that only appease your race issue, but not necessarily solve the problems you need to deal with.
Choosing a terrible life because you believe all white people are evil is just deluded. Not all of them are, and you still end up with terrible problems.
Be smart, deal with issues as they need dealing with, not with a dumb, race-based stencil.
