Body of local Virgin Gordian found @ Handsome Bay Beach
-identified as retired fisherman Bernard George
Sometime early this morning, Saturday, March 1, 2025, the body of a male was discovered at Handsome Bay Beach on Virgin Gorda.
Family members have told our news centre that the body is believed to be that of retired fisherman Bernard George of North Sound.
While the deceased lived in the Valley, he also worked for many years before his retirement at the Little Dix Bay Hotel and Resort. After leaving the resort he took up fishing and used to dive for whelks and conchs.
His body is on its way by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Marine Boat to the state-owned mouge in Road Town, the capital city, on the main island of Tortola where an autopsy will be performed to confirm the cause of death.
The late Mr George is believed to be in his late 60s and was born in Virgin Gorda.
The management and staff of Virgin Islands News Online extend our condolences to his immediate family and other loved ones.
