ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Over 3000 guests are expected to visit Tortola as part of the Ubersoca Cruise’s (USC) inaugural visit to the Virgin Islands (VI).

The VI is the newest addition to the destinations of the USC for its Ocean’s 11 Edition. USC is the world’s largest soca festival at sea.

Departing from Miami, Florida, in the United States, the cruise will dock at the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park in Road Town, Tortola, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

“This year’s sailing will bring more than 3,500 guests to the BVI aboard the Norwegian Encore, the largest ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet,” a press release from USC stated.

J’ouvert 'Punk Rock' Edition & Cultural Showcase

While docked in the VI, the island will host a J’ouvert experience beginning with passengers exploring Road Town through local excursions, cuisine and culture.

They will then partake in a tramp through the streets of the capital city, followed by the J’ouvert, culminating in a huge concert.

The event is open to USC passengers as well as locals and will showcase Ubersoca Cruise’s entertainers alongside the VI’s top talent and local vendors.

Meanwhile, the VI will also present a dedicated onboard showcase highlighting local music, cuisine, and heritage. Featured performers include Raul R. Sprauve, aka Jugo; TieJie Henley; Eustace C. Freeman, aka Boss; and Dante Wattley, aka Pascal the Artist, alongside special appearances by Ubersoca Cruise entertainers throughout the week.

The importance of cultural tourism

The partnership between Ubersoca Cruise and the Virgin Islands underscores the growing importance of cultural tourism across the Caribbean, USC added in its release.

In another press release from the government of the Virgin Islands, Premier and Minister for Tourism, Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) said the USC’s inaugural visit is a milestone moment for the VI.

“We are ready to show the world that the VI is not only a premier cruise destination but also a vibrant stage for music, art, and celebration. This partnership strengthens our tourism industry, supports our creative economy, and showcases our people's warmth and spirit to thousands of new visitors.”

'A world-class platform to shine'

Meanwhile, Junior Minister for Culture and Tourism, Hon Luce D. Hodge-Smith (R4), described the cruise’s visit as an opportunity for local artists and cultural ambassadors.

“The UberSoca Cruise will give our local talent a world-class platform to shine, while allowing visitors to experience the authenticity of Virgin Islands culture.”

Nathaniel Turner, Founder and CEO of Ubersoca Cruise, said the VI has long represented the heart and soul of Caribbean culture.

“This partnership goes beyond entertainment- it’s about uniting communities, celebrating our shared heritage, and contributing meaningfully to the region’s economic future,” he said.

Culture is not a commodity to be flaunted and sold.

Its true worth lies deep in the hearts of the people.
