U11 children born in VI to expat parents get visa exemption
This is according to an Order made by Cabinet dated May 11, 2026, under section 37(4) of the Immigration and Passport Act Revised Edition 2013, and published in the Official Gazette.
According to the Virgin Islands Statutory Instrument 2026 NO. 26 published May 11, 2026, "WHEREAS it is provided by section 37(4) of the Immigration and Passport Act, Revised Edition 2013 (hereinafter referred to as the “Act”) that the Cabinet may by an Order exempt any person or class of persons either permanently or for a limited period from the requirement of being in possession of a passport or of such other documents mentioned under subsection (1) of the section;
"AND WHEREAS the documents mentioned under section 37(1) of the Act includes a visa; NOW THEREFORE, the Cabinet in exercise of the powers conferred by section 37(4) of the Act, do hereby exempt from the requirement of a visa under section 37(1), children under the age of 11 years born in the Territory to parents who are ordinarily resident in the Territory and who do not hold a certificate issued under section 16 or 18 of the Act."
