Two men charged over illegal guns & ammunition
Police in a release today June 12, 2023, said Casheem Walters, 33, of Josiah Bay and Khalil Winter, 23, of no fixed place of abode were each charged with carrying an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition where the two men will appear in Magistrate’s Court at the next available sitting.
“While officers carry out patrol operations, detectives of the Criminal Investigations Department continue to investigate the robbery that occurred in Purcell Estate last Thursday as well as a reported robbery which occurred early Monday morning where four persons were held up by a lone armed assailant in a parking lot along Pickering Street near the Elmore Stoutt High School,” the release stated.
The RVIPF added that Cash and jewelry were taken, and two victims sustained minor injuries.
Public asked to provide information
The force said it is continuing to do its part to reduce the number of illegal firearms on the streets and to capture those in possession of the weapons.
"The Force is appealing to the public to get involved in saving lives and keeping the community safe by providing information on suspected persons or the locations where these firearms are being hidden or imported,” the RVIPD said in an appeal.
