Two men charged in drug seizure @ Beef Island

LONG BAY, Beef Island, VI – The two men detained in relation to Tuesday morning’s boat chase and drug seizure on Beef Island have been charged, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has said.

Vibert Morgan and Okello James, both 34 years and residents of Belle Vue, were charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply to another, and unlawful possession of a controlled drug.

Additional charges are pending.

The RVIPF in a press release today, May 10, 2023, said the two accused will appear before the Magistrate’s Court at the next available sitting.

The early morning joint operation by US Federal agents and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force involving both air and marine access culminated with a boat chase that ended on Long Bay, Beef Island.

Over 500 kilos of cocaine seized

Police said over 500 kilos of what is believed to be cocaine was seized in the operation along with a speed boat.

Investigations are active and ongoing in this matter.

    They can pay all the visit they want at the end of the day we have to ask if what they are doing looking into peoples homes with their helicopter & drone is legal and if this is what we want to tolerate beyond the protection of our borders.

    Spying is highly illegal right up there with arson but to whom is offered the protection?

    At the end of the day people have a right to complain about the noise & flying over their house. If you are a war vet or civilian victim of war it can be traumatic. Those helicopters can literally blow us away and its only trust in a foreigner being sane that makes people cheer it on beyond the arrest of one or two people.

    Serious question for VI landers where does our privacy begin & our intolerance for foreign "law enforcement" who break our laws begin?
