POCKWOOD POND, Tortola, VI- Two persons have reportedly been taken to Peebles Hospital with minor injuries after a vehicle skidded off a road and rolled some 30 feet down a slope during a road driving test at Pockwood Pond this morning, October 25, 2013.

According to reports reaching Virgin Islands News Online, the driver was taken on an elevated road above the public road at Pockwood Pond when he encountered a braking problem and skidded off the narrow road.

The vehicle, a Dodge SUV with license plate RT 2341, ended up rolling forward downhill through bushes and ended up on the public road.

The driver, an expat who is licensed to drive in his home country, was reportedly unhurt but two other persons in the vehicle were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The incident reportedly occurred sometime close to 11 A.M.

Persons on the scene said they were surprised that a certified test driver would take persons on that road since it was not a main access road and not in good condition.

One person jokingly said the driver passed his test because he exhibited good control and did not panic, which prevented a more tragic and even fatal result.

The vehicle suffered frontal damages.

Is it legal for an unlicensed person to be driving a rental. If I under this story correct, the person was on their driver's test. WOW.

Majority of the time these vehicle are equipped with anti locking brakes, but when they are defective the owners don't bother to fix them because the regular brakes still function. On more than one occasion anti lock brakes stopped me from sliding on these hills especially when they are wet.

True Anti lock brakes is truly a saver especially when the roads are wet and slippery or even when it comes to close calls.
