Two fined for cannabis possession

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Two men facing charges of unlawful possession of cannabis were fined and dismissed today, July 20, 2012 when they appeared at the Magistrate’s Court.

Henry Cann, who officers of the Royal Virgins Police Force found in his possession, 2.2 grams of cannabis, was fined a fee of $700, with directions that it must be paid within 30 days.

Kelwyn Lindsay, who was also charged with possession of cannabis, was asked to pay a fine of 1800, with $900 to be paid to the court cashier before 3:30 p.m. today and the other $900 to be paid in 2 weeks, on or before August 3, 2012.

These decisions were made by the court of which Magistrate Tamia Richards presided.

Both were represented by Mr. Patrick Thompson, and had pleaded guilty on their first visit to court on June 19, 2012.

      the college or social development dept need to do a study to examine initiation into drug use among whites in the BVI...same way they did one for blacks in the bvi

    wow come on man, why its not Legalize? some one please put up a link of info of herbs killing anyone please, mean time see all the good it can do. i dont smoke herbs or use herbs, i dont sell or buy, but we have to really ask our self,why is herbs not *Legalize* it's time people, we have book and we have today the internet, lets work together as a people. do one should be put in jail for herbs, fine yes, its not legal, but jail time? come on people. it's time.*Legalize*

      It is not a herb it is a drug. Most drug addicts will tell you that they started with MARIQUANA and escalated to other drugs.

    Its pathetic in this day an age to discriminate between alcohol and de weed,gosh there is no breathalyzer here so everyone driving intoxicated,weed grows naturally,the BVI used to grow sugar for alcohol its all a hypocrisy,none understands the logic anymore,god help us...

    look how the police playing the bvi people for fools where the hell are the high paid UK officers who came here and after three years of them being here we still have 25+ unsolved murders in the Virgin Islands???? Up and down wasting time, harrasing people for a lil weed and stopping pre festival events!!! Where the hick is the governor? who is in change of the police? Morris has failed the people of the BVI and not ah man saying ah ting!!!!!!
