ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- As the Virgin Islands and the rest of the world celebrates Mother’s Day, Premier and Minister of Finance Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) has hailed all mothers in the Virgin Islands but has also called for broken relationships with mothers to be mended.

“Today I give thanks to all mothers, whether you gave birth, adopted a child who needed love of perhaps you are a guardian, wife or aunt or God mother. Regardless of how motherhood came to be I thank God for all of you,” Premier Fahie stated in his Mother’s Day Message today, May 9, 2021.

‘Unconditional love’ of a mother is ‘irreplaceable’

The Premier and First District Representative said mothers have a special place in his heart because, for many of us, whether it is tough love, selfless love or embracing love, the unconditional love for a mother to a child is irreplaceable.

“I was raised by a praying mother, a strong woman who was not afraid to make sacrifices, even if it meant allowing other mothers throughout this territory to help shape and mould me. I was also raised by a caring mother who also became a mother to so many…” Premier Fahie said, while also expressing gratitude to his wife, who is also a mother.

‘Turn bitterness into happiness’

Hon Fahie noted; however, that he is aware there may be some persons who may not have good relationships with their mothers in their lives and he called for such relationships to be mended.

“In this new regular let us make amends. Let us put down the shield, let us put down pride. Instead let us reawaken our hearts and reach out to that mother in your life and turn bitterness into happiness.

“Let us reboot that broken relationship with that mother and turn mistakes into success. Let us create a new regular hinged on God’s word, regardless of what happened in the past. We will give so that we can break the cycle of separation and allow for connectivity and connection. And for every time that you share a smile in this marathon of a new relationship with whomever you call mother you can take a moment to celebrate every lap where success was achieved.”

For those who have lost their mothers, Premier Fahie asked them to reflect on the “many traits that continue to remind you of them” and smile.

Hon Fahie also hailed mothers of the First District, “women who are not afraid to tell me like it is but I love them nonetheless.”

Likewise as well. I would like to wish all the Mothers in the BVI a Happy Mother’s Day. If you have a close relationship with your Mom, TREAT YOUR MOM LIKE THE NUMBER ONE TRUE PRINCESS THAT SHE IS. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY.

Our Premier is a good man but there are those who will do anything to try to label him in a negative way to try to get him removed from the seat of Premier and Minister of Finance for their own greedy purposes. Let God be your guide Premier. You will be just fine. Thanks for the mother Day greetings.

Yes. Absolutely. Child BVI should mend its relationship with Mother England.

Absolutely, but the Child still has to leave their Mother's house. It is the natural order of things. A certain Mother; however, thinks the Child should remain forever. The Mother needs some serious counselling!

What would he say to ALL the delinquent mothers who made children and never raised them? Mothers who just bruised their back for a moment of pleasure with someone else's husband got pregnant then either gave the child up to the system or dropped he or she off to family members and never returned? Now that they are old and washed up want to be given a plaque for "mother of the century "?
Idiots never thought that their children will grow up and especially those who grow up to be someone decent, there's a special place in hell for mothers who never took care of their children ( animals give sickle to their young)
Well to ALL you nasty trifling delinquent mothers out there I say
    Never forget, never forgive.

Am with you, some only see what they want to see, but, there are some who could never let go of the hurt throughout their childhood years due to mother not being a mother.

I lived it, so I know how it feels, can from a uterus that was very busy, a stranger who carry 6 children and never raised one, passed them off to old relatives, I never knew the scumbag until I was 19 years old.
The woman made 6 kids, six different fathers, six married men, never bother to even get some support for us, well she didn't even made sure she gave is breast milk, I was given away to an old relative at 9 days old, this dirtbag worked in a store yet other people lodgings/ hand me down were what I wore, old shoes and clothes that never fit, I managed to to go to school and wanted a life, now I am doing me she want to come claiming that I am her daughter, hell no, you were just a piece of @$$ who is old and washed up now with not even a roof over your head, so I am your child, bs.
FYI at age 25 I asked this woman why and she told me that she never wanted me, but couldn't afford an abortion, well now that she is 72, she was never and will never be my mother.
Lots of nasty mothers out there, lots of nastiness being swept under a lot of rugs.
