Tri-party Opposition looking @ coalition to deny VIP Gov’t another term
This was revealed at an Opposition press conference on March 12, 2022.
‘We will do whatever it takes’- Hon Turnbull
Asked if the political parties have been in discussion with a view to forming a coalition government, Second District Representative Hon Melvin M. Turnbull, who represents Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM), said the Opposition is not pleased with the performance of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Government and will do what it takes to get them out of office.
“What we see happing in this country we can’t afford to let this administration see past a day after elections, because they have destroyed this country. So, we have made up in our minds, we have committed to do whatever it takes to stand together to ensure that we form the next Government of the Virgin Islands,” Hon Turnbull stated.
According to Hon Turnbull, the Territory needs persons in leadership who have the country first at heart and who are willing to put aside their pride and what they want individually and do what is best for the territory and its future.
“So where the three of us sit in this Opposition we have already made a commitment that we would work together and we would represent this country to form the next administration that's without a shadow of a doubt." We will stand together and form the next administration,” Hon Turnbull stated.
Opposition parties willing to unite as parties- Hon Fraser
Earlier, Third District Representative Hon Julian Fraser, RA, who represents Progressives United (PU), said he believes there is a need for a government where everyone has a say at the table and that as Opposition Members from different political parties they have been able to achieve that.
According to Hon Fraser, if Opposition Leader Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8), who represents the National Democratic Party (NDP), wants to be successful at the next general election but “for any reason he needs to form a government and couldn't muster the support among his own party, from within his own party and he has to come to us for support, he can expect that.
“He can expect that he would have to do what coalitions do and it would be for the best of the country. It would be best for the country because we have understood each other over the last three and a half years and I think that he knows that both of us, Member for the 2nd and myself who are representing two other political parties, are quite capable of letting him know that it's not going to be that way,” Hon Fraser stated.
There have been reports that the NDP remains fractured since the last elections and that Hon Penn has not been enjoying full support from Members of the party, as some believe he is not the right person to lead the party to the next elections.
Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Hon Penn disclosed that the Opposition is committed to working collectively for the best interest of the territory.
“We have made a commitment to ourselves and we intend to keep that commitment moving forward," Hon Penn stated.

Good question. Who will be the leader. For sure Fraser will never like to know any body leading he.
But hello. If any of these had confidence in themself they would never be talking about coalition. They should be so confident in leading their respective party to victory but they are useless and incapable of doing that.
