ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- He spent the last six months preparing for the very moment last evening March 3, 2012 at the 5th Annual Top 7 @7 Music Awards at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex and delivered did Travie Rozae (Travis Walters) as he put in an incredible performance that landed him a record deal with UpFront Records.

Travis was certainly a much different artiste as promised and had the crowd screaming during his performances of “Crazy”, “See Her in You” and “Unbreak My Heart”, proving that the stint with the R.A.Y.D.A.R. Entertainment Superstar Moulding Programme transformed him into international material.

Impressed enough was owner and founder of UpFront Records, Devyne Stephens, who said the future of music in the Virgin Islands is full of talent and is well supported. He then made the big announcement that he was welcoming Travie Rozae into the UpFront Records family.

Stephens has worked with artistes such as Toni Braxton, Pink, TLC, Usher and Boyz II Men and is also credited for discovering Senegalese R&B singer Akon.

The announcement of Travie Rozae’s record deal was followed by loud applause and a speechless Travie, struggling to hold back tears, said he was grateful to God and his many supporters for the opportunity.

In tears was President of Follow The Movement, Craig Lake, who reminded the audience that if they have a dream that they must believe in themselves and work hard to make it become a reality.

Earlier, the Awards presentation was again about Monea Richardson as she collected awards for Best Love Song, Number One Song, Best Female Artiste and the 2012/2013 Champion Artiste. The latter award was shared by Travie Rozae, who picked up two Number One Songs Awards.

Richardson was no doubt a crowd favourite and certainly stepped up her game compared to last year, however, it is yet to be seen if she would get a record deal.

Country Boyz, who had the crowd in a frenzy with their scintillating performance received awards for Number One Song - See Your Face.

A soothing performance was also witnessed by SEF, who sang “Everytime I see you smile”, which also won him an award for Number One Song.

Other awardees for Number One Songs included MJAR- Good Girl, Showtime - We Pushing Bush and Bunz of Steel, K’are - We Lost Our Love. The Award for Best Male Artiste went to Hashim, while Mullah Gwop picked up an award for Best Love Song.

Also impressing on stage was B Breezy with his song What About Me? B Breezy also received loud applause when he presented an award to Craig Lake for his work with Follow The Movement and his continuous promotion of local musical talent.

Stealing the show, however, were Verse Simmons, who literally sang his way into the crowd much to the appreciation of adoring fans and Planet VI (formerly Rock City). Rock City turned the show into a party just as promised and frenzied fans responded promptly to the call to go closer to the stage and even to get on stage. Everyone seemed to be shaking a leg as the dynamic duo from St. Thomas, USVI took over the show.

It appears as though you adults intend for these kids to remain kids! This simply explains why when they hit the international arena they can hardly open to a good conversation. You BVI people are just barriers that bury your kids! aint no force ripe about nothing! the kids knew they were not going to Rite Way in filp flopsm to buy orange nor outside the house to pick tamrinds. You guys needs to just stop!

When will our government begin to understand that this is Multi-sports facility - not an entertainment centre, not a graduation venue, not a church venue, not a trade show venue. It was built for SPORTS and should be used for SPORTS. Develop our sports properly.
