ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – In preparation for the Ubersoca Cruise Punk Rock themed Jouvert, the Ministry of Communications and Works has announced that traffic in Road Town, Tortola, will be interrupted to accommodate the event.

New traffic arrangement
Traffic coming from the west will be diverted through MacNamara, continuing to Wailing Road and Fort Charlotte, exiting onto Paul Wattley Road. Additionally, traffic may use Porter Road to Titley Road, continue on Russell Hill, and exit onto Paul Wattley Drive.

Motorists travelling from the east are advised that they will be diverted to Station Avenue, with the option to turn left onto Pickering Road if heading west or right onto Huntums Ghut Road.

Motorists on Fishlock Road should note that only traffic coming from Flemming Street heading east will be allowed, enabling drivers to turn onto Market By-Pass, continue on the highway, and also allowing right turns near the House of Assembly Building.

No traffic permitted at roundabout

Meanwhile, no traffic will be permitted to enter or exit at the roundabout.

Motorists should also be aware that traffic will be allowed on Lloyd Drive, Positive Action Drive, Waterfront Drive, and Administration Drive until 1:00 p.m. After this time, to ensure the banking community can exit safely, these roadways will be fully closed. Access on Waterfront Drive will be permitted only for taxi and tour operators returning to the Pier Park. Waterfront Drive will reopen once the Jouvert reaches DeCastro Street.

The Ministry of Communications and Works says it apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

They are all children, member for the 4th have many of us surprised Mrs. One-termer. Mr. Dawson have us surprised he is too quiet so we confirm he is not contesting district 1 again. Lorna has me surprised too that she backing this mess and must be because she has not spoken up. Well the man for the 3rd spent and time to retire because some of the comments he has made in the past makes no sense at all. The list is sooooo long. This government is the worse ever.

When people turn a blind eye to a wicked situation, they are just as guilty as the person who carries out that evil act. It seems that we are also allowing Spanish Bars in every corner... look how they are popping up around the Capital? We BVIslanders are becoming overly indifferent to many crucial moral matters in our community!

        Those are Heavy Metal Bands.
Punk Rock is Talking Heads, Patti Smith, The Ramones, The Clash…
What I don’t get is how that goes with Soca?

The only Punk Rock aspect to this event will be some Mohawks and brightly coloured hair. I guarantee you won't hear any of these getting played today:

I don't know if someone is fooling the people but from yesterday I have been tracking this ship and confirming its itinerary, it doesn't seems like this ship will be arriving in the BVI no earlier than 12noon/2pm on Tuesday and departs at 9pm. Track it for yourself, Its the Norwegian Encore. So the question is, how much money the country is expected to gain from this short stay again?

    “Traffic interrupted”
    Education interrupted, work interrupted,
    businesses in town interrupted,
A load of nonsense and loss of our money.

Have the Bands in different locations..1/. The lot behind admin building...2/ At Cane Garden Bay Beach....3/ Long Bay Beef Island Beach. Different Bands, .Give the party folks options..3 spots to chose from and jump from one to the next.....We are different. This is how I would have organized it...Very little or no traffic interruption, .No half day off, Most workers go straight to party after 430pm work..

This is absolutely crazy, let them party on the ship. Punk rock is anarchy and chaos. Wo approved this, needs a thorough investigation, someone of a group have been paid to allow this to happen.

This is embarrassing.... nowhere else would a government show such contempt for education. I'm sad the FSC and banks followed suit.... check the guyanese and barbadian educational system and the calibre of student they are producing. Shame government.....

If I was a parent, I was NOT sending my child to school for this day. I would stay home with my infant child or make my more elder child stay in the house and assignment them constructive things to do. Nobody has time to try and figure out how to work around the chaos behind this mess!

I am keeping mine home today. His assignment for today is throughly cleaning his room from top to bottom including arranging his closet and doing some yard work. He will not be no way near or involve in the madness that is going on today.
