Tradewinds Radio & Cruisers Outpost Magazine donate $$ to RBVIYC

The donation of $1,000 was the proceeds from the raffle at the 2nd Annual Beach Bash and Cruisers Party held at Myetts in Cane Garden Bay last weekend as well as matching funds from Bob Bitchin on behalf of Cruisers Outpost Magazine.
Captain Dan, who remarked that the BVI “is a lovely place to be, the place for boaters to be and an easy, nice and friendly place,” also commented that in donating the funds to the RBVIYC “sailing for kids all around the world is very important”
Tamsin Rand accepted the donation on behalf of the Royal BVI Yacht Club. “It's fantastic for us to know these organisations are eager and willing to support our youth programmes. The programmes are thriving but are dependent on this kind of support.”
The RBVIYC holds outh sailing sessions Monday through Thursday after school and Saturdays with different programmes on different days as well as a lot of overseas travel to regattas. “We will be discussing where the money goes to but it is a wonderful donation,” concluded Rand.
The exuberant Bob Bitchin of Cruising Outpost Magazine had hardly stopped describing how wonderful the trip had been and how pleased he was to be able to help with the donation on behalf of the Magazine, before he was thinking about the next event.
“This is the second annual and next year we will be back for the 3rd annual. We have had such a tough time here, with a couple days at scrub island, went aboard a 54 footer to sail downwind to Sopers Hole and Saturday night did a party with 200-250 cruisers on charter or their own boats. Capt Dan and I came up with the idea to hold a party in the BVI. We do the same thing at the Miami boat show, Oakland, Newport and St Petersburg to name but a few. Captain Dan and Tradewinds radio have a great following here as does Cruising Outpost and as it’s my favourite place to be, we promoted it and it worked,” Bitchin stated.
