ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The BVI Tourist Board & Film Commission (BVITBFC) is encouraging local tourism industry partners to sign up for business listings on its official tourism website and register on its email database ahead of the new tourist season.

The BVITBFC’s website has been an essential resource, providing all necessary information for visiting guests and residents alike for the past 25 years, a press release said.

The information is vital for keeping everyone updated on tourism products and relevant facts essential for booking vacations, activities, and other travel-related news.

Free advertising & promotion

Not only is the BVITBFC’s reach wide, but the platform www.bvitourism.com allows industry partners the opportunity to advertise and promote their businesses to a wider audience for free.

As of 2024, the website recorded over 600,000 users, remaining the “perfect platform for showcasing all tourism-related products”, the release added.

The website extends popular social platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Threads, amassing a combined 230,000 followers.

It was revealed in a recent research report by the BVITBFC’s marketing agency, MMGY, that 68% of travellers to the Virgin Islands utilise the website to plan their travels to the territory.

A lot of benefits

There are many benefits of registering on the BVITBFC’s email database. These include receiving key industry news and updates; receiving notices of special marketing initiatives by BVITBFC, including co-op advertising, trade shows, and webinars; participating and partnering in BVITBFC events; and receiving relevant statistical reports and other marketing intelligence.

Director of Tourism Clive L. McCoy said this push to update the BVITBFC’s website and email database is in preparation for the upcoming tourist season.

“We note that some of our partners make changes to their contact information without providing updates for the website. This makes it difficult for prospective visitors to connect with them, representing a potential revenue loss. It is important for our website to be updated regularly, including the business listing, as this affects factors such as Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).”

He added that business contacts signed up to the database will receive important and timely promotional opportunities and updates in the “dynamic world of international travel and tourism.

To sign up, tourism businesses can email listings@bvitourism.com for the website or update their listings and database@bvitourism.com, providing their email, name, business and other contact details for addition to the email database.

When you try to send an email to the address listed in the announcement, it bounces back as undeliverable. The address is not listed or unable to receive messages. That's the storyline of BVI tourism over and over!
