Total active COVID cases in VI down to 46

- 7 persons hospitalised with virus

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- After experiencing a spike in COVID-19 cases that topped 1,600 active cases over a month ago, the Virgin Islands continues to see a reduction in infections, with the total active cases now down to 46.

This is according to an update from the Government of the Virgin Islands today, August 12, 2021.

29 of the positive cases are local cases, while 7 were detected via travel screening, 5 were contacts of cases, 3 were detected on entry screening day 0, 1 on entry screening day 4 and 1 on entry screening day 7.

There have been a total 2,552 COVID-19 cases in the Virgin Islands, 2,469 recoveries and 37 deaths, according to the Territory's Epidemiological Summary.

7 hospitalised

Meanwhile, 7 persons are hospitalised with COVID-19 at Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital.

All of the hospitalised persons are unvaccinated.

So far 12,433 persons are fully vaccinated in the VI, while 4,306 are partially vaccinated.

    Set the people free, open the country, People need to understand that their healh is their personal respinsibility and they need to take that responsibility seriously....I Miss Trump.     The PCR test cannot differentiate regular flu from covid so the numbers are therefore disqualified. Call off the curfew and those ventilators and get to the herbs thank you.

    Total KNOWN cases. This is a disease where more than 50% of people don’t even know they have it. Only way to know for sure is to be tested

    Party Start Now! Government please I ask you to ensure that businesses adhere to safety guidelines and protocols. We have come to far to turn back. We are not out of the woods, however, please hold these entities responsible. Bars/Clubs should be monitored more often and frequently.
