ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- In what is now the second-largest COVID-19 spike in the Virgin Islands (VI), there are now 958 active cases recorded in the territory, according to the latest update given today, January 6, 2022.

According to the Territory's Epidemiological Summary, the latest figures are the result of testing done on January 5, 2022, and reported on January 6, 2022.

The Summary also noted that of the 958 active cases, 357 are new cases.

755 of the active cases are on Tortola, 175 on Virgin Gorda, 20 on Anegada and 8 on Jost van Dyke.

There are 483 local cases and 377 being contacts of cases.

12 persons are currently hospitalised at Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital with COVID-19 related illness.

The last COVID-19 spike in the VI took place mid-2021, with total cases reaching some 1600.

    Cases isn’t a pandemic, no one dropping down in the streets not in the beginning and not now let people live. After the peak of the flu season all these numbers gonna drop. Pcr test can’t tell the difference between those two flu’s because it was never designed for that

      Not only Pfizer but check Moderna and Johnson and Johnson. They all have billion dollar judgements against them. Moderna filed for bankruptcy just before the worldwide lockdown. Johnson and Johnson have a $2.5 billion dollars judgement against them for having talcum in the baby powder. Cause many health issues for users of their products.     Lets move on. This virus has mutated into nothing more than a cold. Stop counting cases, stop testing, treat the sick like you would the flu.

    12 in hospital (some will be for other things aswell) from most likely a few thousand that actually have the infection.

      Anytime the corrupt system trying to push vaccine they set the system up to create fear and Panic by rigging the test a flu is shown as covid positive.     My son went to the hospital for a pain he was having over a few days. They look at my son and tell him it's corona virus he has. telling my son they transporting him up covid ward. can you imagine that they not even examining patients anymore every thing is corona now .my son ask to sign himself out and went to Eureka only to be told he has appendix and need surgery right away we ended up bogonvilla and had the surgery . People them letting you die down there just to say it's covid related death . My son was tested for covid before sugery and was negative. People becareful with that hospital ok

      Not quite right. There is a covid spike in many places around the world. The thing is the virus has now reached a point in its mutation where its more contagious but less deadly - common amongst mutating viruses such as this. Look in media around the world, most places have had huge spikes recently BUT hospital admissions and deaths are falling. As predicted this is becoming something we just live with, like seasonal flu.

    Just a question for the Ministry of health. Are these numbers true or false? What percentage is vax or unvax.Is this a scrare tatic or sales method to get the product moving? In USA on the 4th Jan 2022 ,
    one news site said that 98% of the omocron variant was vaccinated. Is something going wrong that people dont know about.
