ESTATE BOVONI, St Thomas, USVI- The St John Celebration Races will kick off at Clinton E. Phipps Racetrack in Estate Bovoni, St Thomas from 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 5, 2025.

Once again, the only participation from Tortola will come from horse racing icon Lesmore Smith, who has entered two horses- 2024 Governor’s Cup Champion Ghostinyou and Risk vs Reward.

Ghostinyou will race in the feature showdown of the day- the Lieutenant Governor’s Cup for $25,000.00.

Horses will battle over 1 Mile 1/16 in the Open Handicap category.

The other horses entered are Pure Speight of St Croix, Ice Road, Guilluame, Grand Tower, and Royal Act/AE.

Post time is 4:50 pm.

Risk vs Reward in Emancipation Day Sprint

The final clash of the 6-race card will see Risk vs Reward seeking to blaze its way to the $20,000.00 purse in the Emancipation Day Sprint over 7 Furlongs for Class A horses.

Challengers will include Mundo Mix from St Croix, Colbaloaf, Modern Lane, Royal Act, and Barrio San Jose.

    2 horse races on St. Thomas for this St. John festival weekend. Maybe do the same for BVI August Festival and have the horse racing in St. Thomas!
