Tortola Toastmasters installs new Executive Body
At an installation ceremony on June 18th 2019, the Tortola Toastmasters installed its Executive Board Members comprising of President, Ernald George; Vice President of Education, Julia Leonard; Vice President of Membership, Portia Stoutt, CC/CL, Vice President of Public Relations, Sharona Pickering; Secretary, Pearla Sylvester-Thomas; Treasurer Linda Magloire; Sergeant at Arms, Weslene Walters and Immediate Past President, Dereck Alphonso, CC/ALB.
The outgoing President Mr Alphonso gave a warm and encouraging farewell remarks after pinning the Incoming President Mr George just before adjourning the meeting.
Building Leadership Skills
According to a release from the organization, “The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. The Toastmasters International motto is, ‘Where Leaders are Made’.”
The organization further noted that the Tortola Toastmasters club is proud to be a part of District 81 which serves the Caribbean.
“Division E Director, Helen Cristina-Romeo represents many territories in Division E such as Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Marten, St. Martin, St. Kitts & Nevis, the Virgin Islands of the United States (USVI) and the Virgin Islands (BVI)”
The Tortola Toastmasters Club meets on the 1st, 3rd & 5th Tuesdays of each month 6 p.m. in the Top Priority Security Conference Room, in Fish Bay.
