Tortola Lions contributes donation for the purchase of eyeglasses

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Lions Club of Tortola on Tuesday July 24, 2012, presented a cheque to six-year old, Mr. Kaylon Penn to aid with the purchase of his eyeglasses.

According to a press release, when the request was received, his mother Ms. Kelima Penn indicated that Kaylon repeated his class twice and she was encouraged to have his eyes and ears examined. While his hearing proved to be fine, it was after the exams that it was determined that he needed prescription glasses.

In presenting the cheque, Lion President Jasmine L. Bass in the presence of club members and his mom indicated that it was the Lions Club’s pleasure to assist little Kaylon as 'Sight First' is one of the mandate of Lions Club International. Tortola Lions in its “School Base Sight First Program” pledge to conduct eyes examination in each of the primary schools.

Tortola Lions Club, in April 2012 celebrated 40 years since its charter from Lions Clubs International, the largest service club in the world. General meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at the Lions Den located at Johnsons Ghut from 7:00pm. Their motto is “WE SERVE” and service minded individuals are welcomed to attend general meetings and learn more of their agenda for service in the Virgin Islands. Lion President Jasmine L.
