ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Tortola has been selected as one of three destinations for the 2025 edition of the Ubersoca Cruise.

Ubersoca Cruise is the largest Soca music festival at sea featuring non-stop soca artists and DJs from around the world.

This year, the Ubersoca Cruise also announced that the at-sea party will take place aboard its largest ship to date- the Encore, the largest vessel in the Norwegian fleet- from November 15 to 22, 2025.

7-nights, 80 entertainers

The 7-night cruise will make its first stop in Tortola before moving on to Great Stirrup Cay in The Bahamas and the final stop in St Thomas, USVI and promises 80 entertainers.

The cruise is known not only for its nonstop parties but also its health and wellness sessions, workshops and seminars and on-ship competitions.

The Bermudian-run Ubersoca Cruise also received the Best Cruise Event of the Year at the 2024 Caribbean Music Awards in New York.

Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) reached out to Tourism Director Mr Clive L. McCoy and Junior Minister for Culture and Tourism Hon Luce D. Hodge-Smith (R4) for comment.

Hon Hodge-Smith informed our news centre that more information will be released to the public soon.

This is a big deal and a chance for the local bands to get noticed on the international stage, whilst at home. If they have any sense they will ensure they are playing (and performing) as close to the cruise pier as possible, without the need to charge for doing so. Let the feters and promoters see how the BVI bands can jam.

The selection of the Virgin Islands for its first stop in the Soca festival cruise is indeed amazing. It shows clearly that the foreigners appreciate the Territory than our Locals who are describing the Territory as the worst place to visit. Only last week Virgin Gorda was selected as one of the best islands to visit. Though, I agree that we need to do more to enhance the pristine of the islands, the government cannot do it all. I am appealing to all citizens and residents to work collaboratively to ensure that we keep the Territory clean and safe from criminal activities.

I would urge the Tourist Board to visit all the recreational beaches and parks as well as hotels and restaurants to ensure that the Tourists have a pleasant stay while they visit. I would also like the ferries and taxies operators to exercise courtesies and arm themselves with information to explain to the tourist the historical significance of these islands. So that when the tourists return to their homeland, they could be ambassadors to sell the island as a place to visit.
