BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI – Honestly Speaking radio Moderator, Claude O. Skelton-Cline has described the current state of affairs in the Virgin Islands (VI) as one where Virgin Islanders seem to be in fear, and this he says is fuelling vitriol and venomous behaviours in the people.

Mr Skelton-Cline did not give specific examples but said, “When I see these kinds of emotions running high… fear is the monster, fear is the fungus that invading our spirits and minds and I need us to calm down, stand back,” he said on the May 12, 2021, edition of his radio show aired on ZBVI 780 AM and live-streamed on Facebook.

According to Skelton-Cline, issues such as the Hurricanes of 2017, the August floods, the COVID-19 pandemic, compounded by the ongoing Commission of Inquiry (CoI) have caused Virgin Islanders to experience fear.

“We cannot continue to go down the path that we are currently going down because it is going to lead to self-destruction. My brothers and sisters I am calling on us to calm down… there’s too much venom and vitriol, there’s too much of a vicious spirit loose in the atmosphere,” he said.

'Stay Calm' - Skelton-Cline

The clergyman further called on all Virgin Islanders to stay calm regarding the current situation in the VI, adding that in the absence of understanding fear prevails.

"Our fore-parents would not be proud of the way that we are relating and behaving with each other on the earth right now," he said.

"No need for egos to flair, nobody doesn't have no point to prove to anybody. We all on this journey and we are in a different place on the journey, as a country, if we are going through what we are going through from all that has already transpired... we have to get through together," he said.

What are some of the root causes that has and is triggering such?

    1) The high nand cintiouous rising cost of living.

    2) The continuous low to slave wages.

    3) The notion that a few are living well while the majority are living in hell/barely getting by.

There are many more underlying root causes triggering intense dissatisfaction among the opulace.

When people see millions being spent daily and their lives, education and other are not attended to, and they continue to suffer, such breeds discontent.

since school days he and the self proclaimed bishop has always displayed their arrogance in false pretences / hypocrisy so it's no coincidence that they choose the same path of deception on innocent people using the church as their playing field

Projection: is a psychological defense mechanism in which individuals attribute characteristics they find unacceptable in themselves to another person. For example, a husband who has a hostile nature might attribute this hostility to his wife and say she has an anger management problem

From John 8:44: You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
