ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The BVI Finance Tomorrow’s Leaders Internship Programme began on Friday, May 1, 2026, with an orientation session.

The internship is designed to provide Virgin Islanders at the tertiary level with meaningful, hands-on work experience within the financial services industry by connecting students and recent graduates with leading financial services firms across the Virgin Islands. 

Minister with responsibility for Financial Services, Hon Lorna G. Smith, OBE, (AL), attended the orientation session where she underscored the importance of investing in the youth. 

Hon Smith encouraged participants to embrace the opportunity to gain knowledge, build skills, and contribute meaningfully to the future of The Virgin Islands’ financial services industry.

Structured opportunities

BVI Finance said that by bringing together employers and emerging talent, the Tomorrow’s Leaders Internship Programme creates structured opportunities for professional development, mentorship, and skills-building. 

Through these experiences, participants gain practical insight into the industry while developing the confidence, competence, and networks needed to become the next generation of leaders and decision-makers in the VI’s financial services sector.

The internship is open to college or university students and recent college or university graduates. 

During the internship, the interns will benefit from hands-on experience, skill development, mentorship, networking opportunities, work experience in the Financial Services Industry, and potential future opportunities.
