Last second drama!
The game between Tola and Dominican Republic was as thrilling as they come, with the game decided at the last second, literally.
Dominican Republic thought they had the victory, at least twice in the last minute of the game. In the first instance Deon J. Edwin kept Tola alive when he made two free throws to give Tola a 1-point lead, 92-91, with 14. 6 seconds remaining in the game.
The visitors then attacked the basket with a drive inside and a layup, but it missed; however, Dominican Republic made the offensive rebound but their second attempt at the basket only found the rim. The third attempt went in and there was much celebration from the Dominican Republic and their fans; however, referee Norval A. Young, waved off the point.
After over 10 minutes of delay, including due to crowd invasion, it was announced that Tola had won, since the shot clock expired when Dominican Republic made their second attempt at the basket.
Edwin scored top for Tola with 33 points, while Eral Penn had 29 points, and Kalu Ezikpe, 12.
Juan de los Santos had a game high 44 points in a valiant but vain effort.
