FAT HOGS BAY, Tortola, VI- Radio show host Floyd Burnett aka 'Heritage’, who is also the proprietor of the popular Tola Radio VI 100.5 FM, has claimed his station was allegedly snubbed by the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee (VIF&FC), regarding advertisements for the Virgin Gorda Easter Festival.

In a Facebook update last evening, April 14, 2022, the company said while it previously had no affiliation with the Virgin Gorda Easter Festival, it noted every other radio station in the territory had.

“Our investigations revealed that the head of the committee instructed that every media house in the territory [to] receive the ad!"

“Sadly, the PR person for the committee (who is reportedly deeply tied to another radio station where the ad was produced) when asked three days later why Tola Radio did not receive the ad replied… she forgot,” the statement added.

PR at fault?

Burnet called on the public to ask why the individual or their superiors instructed them to “forget” Tola Radio 100.5 FM, and for those connected to the issue be relieved of their duties.

“We have no place for that kinda hate towards a brand that celebrates freedom!” the statement added.

Culture Minister, Dr The Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), and VI Festival & Fairs Committee Chairman Dirk L. Walters could not be reached for comments up to publication time.

The statement added; however, that within moments of alerting the public on Wednesday night about the issue, 'Heritage' was contacted and Tola Radio VI 100.5 FM was given an official apology and a contract to broadcast the three nights of activities of the Raul 'Jougo' Sprauve Easter Festiville.

I am for free speech and all. I know this young man growing up cool but lately he has become one of the most disrectful youth in the whole of Tola. He has no regards for any one or the rule of law. He believes that he could say anything that comes into his mouth. I am afraid that someone will sue the shoes off his feet

Please explain exactly how he is the most disrespectful youth on the Island. See, the thing with you people in Tortola, if someone speaks their mind or speak out they are disrespectful.

This has nothing to do with" speaking ones mind" or "speak out". As I said he is a cool youth. Just listen to the way he speaks especially about others because they do not believe the same things he does and tell me.

Say what you want, he is the same one who is exposing you and your nasty plans. How come we could never get a festival run under budget for many years? Why, because of people like you and your club members.

As a PR or Marketing person doing ads you look for value for money, and value equals reaching maximum listeners, or readers, so, first you seek out the most read or listen to media source, which Bernett will be up at the top for serious consideration ....It's either She doesn't understand her Job, or she gets personal with it. replace her.,.

She understands alright, no PR person is going to make themselves look stupid by saying they forgot. It really looks like a personal thing.I agree, replace her.

gone are the days when listenership equate to income: a company could have one thousand listeners another establishment might have one hundred listeners how the one hundred listeners have far more spending power than the platform with those thousand listeners

The modern target is spending power not an ability to entertain an audience

Nothing is owed to him. People can choose to do business with who they want to. It is not about teaching the most listeners, it is about aligning your Brand with the right target market and targeted customers. Businesses do not want to be aligned with this clown, disrespectful person. Why he think because other stations got ads that it means he must automatically get an ad too. Clown soup

I just recently started listening to Heritage station after hearing so many comments about it. I can honestly say I have never heard any disrespect. He may use some words that are not normally used in main stream broadcasting. But not four letter bombs. He is outspoken but so are others who have done similar on YouTube or Facebook. I don’t see it as bad. It’s his radio station. He has a very large listening audience. He consults legal minds on topics and invite anyone to comment on his show.
