ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), Premier and Minister of Finance of the Virgin Islands, will deliver the 2026 Budget Address today, Thursday, November 6, 2025. This year’s theme is "Pillars of Progress – Building a Sustainable Nation."

The address will be broadcast live at 10:00 AM on the official Facebook page of the Government of the Virgin Islands and on ZBVI Radio 780 AM.

This Budget Address marks the third presentation by Premier Wheatley during his current administration.

According to a press release, the budget is expected to demonstrate the Government's ongoing commitment to long-term national development, guided by the principles of sustainability, resilience, and prosperity for all Virgin Islanders.

2026 Budget builds on last year's theme

Premier Wheatley stated that the 2026 theme, "Pillars of Progress," builds on last year's theme, "Laying the Blocks of Success," both of which are derived from the National Sustainable Development Plan (NSDP) – Vision 2036: Building a Sustainable Virgin Islands.

He emphasised that the ratification of the NSDP in February 2023 was a significant step towards establishing a sustainable future. "It was the beginning of our journey to build a sustainable nation," Hon. Wheatley stated. "A journey begun by our ancestors, leading to an inheritance that future generations can enjoy, just as those before us once did."

Budget aligned with strategic priorities

The 2026 Budget, which is aligned with the strategic priorities of the NSDP, underscores the Government's commitment to fiscal responsibility, economic diversification, social development, and environmental stewardship. These are the key "pillars" that support the continued progress of the Virgin Islands.

Going to be hard to come up with a budget with no accounts for 8 years.

He will nvent some numbers and tell us it is a budget.

An independent budget. Independent of reality, information, controls, sense, direction, financial know how or the needs of the VI people.
