Ting Too wins 2022 Golden Hind Chandlery Commodore's Race
Whoop Whoop was first to cross the start line but all three boats made slow progress with cat and mouse moves as they sought any extra puff of breeze.
Kites were launched as soon as they cleared Burt Point and they headed off to leave Flanagan to port before racing back up the channel to leave Hog Valley Green to port and return to Road Harbour to finish.
Ting Too prevails
First home was the largest of the three trimarans, Corsair 31 Ting Too skippered by Chris Haycraft, finishing at 12:56:18.
Just over 20 minutes later the first of the two Corsair 27s, Team Whoop Whoop, crossed the line followed by Gilbo Simpson and Tim Parson's Flying Pig.
There was no change to the overall positions after the handicaps were applied but it proved to be one of the closest races of the year on corrected time.
The organisors, Royal British Virgin Islands Yacht Club, expressed gratitude to new race sponsor Golden Hind Chandlery, race committee Ted and Claudia Reshetiloff and all racers.
"We look forward to the new year and getting more boats back on the water!" the RBVIYC commented.
