ROAD HARBOUR, Tortola, VI - The 2023 racing calendar wrapped up with the Golden Hind Chandlery Commodore’s Race on December 16, 2023, with six boats taking to the race course in two fleets according to information from the BVI Yacht Club.

Overall honours went to Chris Haycraft and the Ting-a-Ling team in the Corsair trimaran fleet whilst Sam Talbot’s Spike claimed victory in the monohull class.

According to information, the monohull fleet were first away, racing up to Hog Valley Green, down the channel to leave Pelican and the Indians to port before returning to leave Dead Chest to port, rounding Hog Valley Green again and finishing in Road Harbour.

The J111 Spike skippered by Sam Talbot was the first home in just over two hours followed by Libertas 20 minutes later and WannaB bringing the fleet home.  On corrected time the overall finishing positions remained the same.

Trimarans class

The trimarans sailed a slightly longer course, rounding Flanagan as well as Pelican and the Indians with the rest of the course the same as the monohulls.

First home was Chris Haycraft with Ting a Ling, completing the course in 2 hours and 15 minutes.  They held on to their lead on corrected time with Airgasm taking second and The Flying Pig third.

We managed to get 3 monohull and 3 multihull out for the big race of the Christmas season - not a big turn out for the capital of the world.
