BAUGHER'S BAY, Tortola, VI– Talkshow host and clergyman Mr Claude O. Skelton-Cline has called on women in the Virgin Islands (VI) to start playing a greater role in leadership, particularly the premiership, which has historically been a patriarchal system.

Skelton-Cline was at the time speaking during the Tuesday, August 16, 2022, edition of his Honestly Speaking radio show on ZBVI 780 AM on the topic of VI's future and its leadership.

“I hope that the spirit will give me release in the next week or two to speak the name of the woman that I believe that this is the scheduled season for this particular woman, woman and women, in general, to play a more intimate, crucial, critical role in the leadership in every sphere, but particularly the premiership of this country,” he said.

Months ago, the pastor gave the prophecy during the Tuesday, June 14, 2022, edition of his Honestly Speaking talk show that a woman will rise to power in the VI.

Woman must take up power

“There’s a woman that is going to rise to power in the Office of the Premier in the next general election. You might say Claude Skelton-Cline, that's quite a bold statement."

“She will not be one of the usual suspects… Most of us, when she comes, will probably ask where she comes from…. But your spirit will know that when she comes, your spirit will affirm, yes,” he added.

Meanwhile, during Tuesday's show, Skelton-Cline added that being a man should not only be the qualifying factor for leadership in the VI, particularly as it relates to the highest office.

He added that males are given a free pass towards leadership, even when the people don't have confidence in them.

A great way to show leadership irrespective of sex is to tell us what you did in return for thoes millions you received from tax payers, that is a good place to start and avoid a needless investigation into what really happened.
The very same thing you are accusing the men of is the same position you are putting women in by saying its time for women to take up leadership position. I suspect you playing to the gallery, if women are qualified and the people vote for them, then it's OK but one shouldn't vote for another base on sex, it should be based on merit and competentces.

I did not even read the whole article, just the heading says it all. I guess he has to bring it forward so that his prophesy should come to pass. Then we will call him prophet, Smh. It is true that we have women in our midst that has the backbone and core for leadership. However; I think it is time for people of so said example as the one stating it that they play a bigger role in pulling our young men to attention & Manhood. It is because men have become lazy in leading that women have to take over in everything. This has caused our society to be so weak when it comes to men. They don't want to take up their roll at home, church, they are the weakest link when it comes to school. All the nurturing of the children are done by women. Not saying that a woman cant but please what is happening to our men, those who are in lead are even starting to disappoint, sad situation and when it comes to leadership in men the future does not look bright. Time for the Men to stand Up so that the younger generation can see what is expected of them. Men starting to become him to she'ssssssss. Stop It

The responsible thing for him to do, as a Pastor is to have a conversation with the woman. Anything of God receives confirmation. Or maybe he’s trying to set up a threat. Which is it Pastor? I say do the responsible thing. Let God’s word come to pass through confirmations.

Why though? It takes more than just being a woman, more than just wanting the job, more than just being from here

Truth and Trust issues are plaguing the Virgin Islands and the wider world , but I am talking about my Virgin Islands. Truth and Trust issues will have a difficult time in our cultural ways. The need becomes a greed. The little bundles of love are missing. We need to do better no matter the gender of a Leader. Be Brave.

If we could get some leaders instead of stealers that would
Be great. I honestly don’t care if they have ovaries or testicles as long as they are leaders who actually lead.
