ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Virgin Islands’ Kleon ‘BigKle’ was among three players released by the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday October 24, 2015 as the NBA team got down to the 15 man roster limit.

The Timberwolves waived training camp signings Penn and Nick (brother of Andrew) Wiggins, as well as the partially guaranteed Lorenzo Brown, who spent much of last season with the Wolves, but with three other pure point guards was always on the fringes of this season's roster.

According to canishoopus.com, the Wolves will head into the season with a full 15 man roster, as so: Ricky Rubio, Andre Miller, Tyus Jones, Zach LaVine, Kevin Martin, Andrew Wiggins, Tayshaun Prince, Shabazz Muhammad, Damjan Rudez, Nemanja Bjelica, Kevin Garnett, Adreian Payne, Karl-Anthony Towns, Gorgui Dieng and Nikola Pekovic.

Pekovic will be one of the two players on the inactive list (teams can have a maximum of 13 active players for each game) when the season starts Wednesday.

The Minnesota Timberwolves had announced on Friday September 18, 2015 that it had signed [British] Virgin Islands center Kleon 'BigKle' Penn and guard Nick Wiggins for the present NBA season.

Prior to the Wolves, Penn, 29, played in 45 games with Vaqueros de Bayamon in Puerto Rico, averaging 4.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 18.4 minutes per game. The 6’11 pivot recently competed in the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Championships and was noticed by the interim Timberwolves head coach Sam Mitchell, who was coaching the USVI in the same competition.

Penn finished his college career at McNeese State in 2009.

He made his debut for NBA team Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday October 10, 2015 against the Chicago Bulls in front of a packed house of 15,294 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Canada.

Penn entered the game in the 4th quarter with the Timberwolves already staring a defeat in the pre-season friendly game and had little opportunity to change the result, a 114-105 defeat, but had a solid game at Centre, alongside the likes of Kevin Garnett, Nick Wiggins, Tayshaun Prince and Andrew Wiggins.

With Penn on the court, the Timberwolves saw a plus four point swing, but it was too little too late.

You sound like your jealous, probably haven't done a decent thing in your whole pathetic life... for your info and I pray you can read cause you sound like a real neanderthal(hope that word is not to big for you) he was up there to train and hopefully make the team... just because he didn't make it doesn't mean that that chapter of his life is closed. He will succeed in his goal and God will open another door for him. Also I am sure the colour green doesn't look good on you so you need to stop hating and try to see if you can make some sort of history like Kleon Penn did. I don't see your name on the news doing big things and I probably never will.

Sure about that? You sound like the type of dude who does go America and start Yanking 'Yo Dawg! What's good? What's poppin'! Swag or nah!" like some kinda clown.

Your accent is like a Passport, dude, let it represent where you from with NO exceptions. Whenever I roll states it does all time got people wanting to talk like us, wanting to know how we live and the girls eat it up. But it ain't sound like you know anything about that, do you?

They probably don't even have a Visa or passport to go to the U.S. There's only so much "Yanking" they could learn off of TV and Youtube...He must be one of those that cross the bridge to go Beef Island and feel he/she/it traveling lol....

Twang, here are a few things to consider before blowing hot air:

          1. Melanie Amaro became more popular after she revealed her accent.
          2. Caribbean artists, especially Jamiacans still make best selling music with their local tongue.
          3. People love Rihanna's accent and as big a star as she is, you can't hide a Basian accent so easy.
          4. Iyaz keeps it real too with his accent.
          5. look at R. City's success and they never lose their accent either. the incorporate it in everything...

And we know "Twang" got to come from the Islant why he or she would call down the accent of the Virgin Islander. Is the Jamaican accent any better? Is the Kittitian accent any better? You want to blame somebody, blame the "white plantation owners" who uprooted the Africans and brought them here. They had their own language, and they didn't asked to learn a different language. We never put the blame where the blame should be. Guess what? There are many Virgin Islanders who know how to speak English without the so-called accent. Did you ever tell one of them, "I'm so glad your English appears standard?" Always barking and harping with their no-better Islant Twant.

Bigger opportunities are coming- don't feel it's as a downfall for its only uprising from this point on. What you do was evidence of what dreams are made of & how possible it is to live a dream... Don't mind anyone who say (I know he wasn't going to make it or the blablablabla ) Life is a journey and this is your journey, don't ask of question why you, but why not you? This is your story, you're mission and it's not complete as yet. You will always have my support with or without the NBA attachment you're still considered an amazing player to myself and other's.

Well done on what you accomplish so far.
Don't stop living you're dreams... What dreams are made of? You already know.

Be aggressive. Be positive.. He was just took timid and always seem tired on the court. Tell people the truth. Its the best way forward

You made us proud even though you didn't make it. You are the first to even reach to this point, and that's history. Regardless of all this negativity I want to congratulate your efforts and encourage you to continue striving because here in the VI we are all proud of you. Even think we should honor your efforts with a big turn up!! Somebody say, welcome home party? Ohhhh yea..

You BVI people make me sick... you talk about how he isn't ready but fail to talk about how the timberwolves coaches saw something in Mr. Penn that is why they picked him up even though he was injured. Also those that went and played ball for the BVI always got sent back for either smoking or stealing people's money. Which is sad but not a surprise that is all the bvi has to offer. Thank God he is a American and from Puerto Rico. Tortola only claims people when they are doing well and bring them down when they are not. Typical of the people of this Island. Call him down all you want he will succeed and when he does don't bother give him your false praises when you really just wanted to see him at the bottom of the barrel. Also teaching at the high school, really??? He has his degree and can do much more than teach. To those that claim that they know the sport obviously you don't know it, if the timberwolves coach picked him up out of all the players on this pathetic island to come and train with the timberwolves for such a short space of time. Then he obviously has something. You people need to get a life and stop being jealous and envious that in your whole life time you will never accomplish what Mr.Penn has in his. That is the real truth... he has place your insignificant island on the map and not for doing or selling drugs like so much of your young men has done.

You are so right with what you said, I don't know what it is about the people from the BVI. I'm a born and raised BVislander and sometimes just reading some of the negative comments make me sick to my stomach knowing that I was born and raised in the VI. How can our people be so envious and jealous of each other is beyond me. People will be so quick talk negative when they see you fall but could never offer kind words of encouragement to you to keep pushing and working harder to reach your goals. A lot of people want to see you do good and there is quite a few that want to see you fall and just laugh at you. It's so sickening to me. Continue pushing Kleon, you are an inspiration to many. A lot of people wish they had such an opportunity. You worked hard to get where you are in life, continue pushing and God's speed along the way bro.

There’s something within the human condition that seems to enjoy seeing others fail, especially if those who fail were previously successful. But no matter what happens to people, we should always do the honorable thing and remember the good rather than point the finger at their failings or fall from grace. Why do we BVI islander love a downfall beats me, UNITY is always better!

Was just talking to my young boy that goes to Goldey Beacom College that's from Tortola. Said this is just why he don't go home. I agreed with him Tortola your are the worst. That island to small for all the non-sense that goes on there. How can so many hate on their own. But that's your culture. You hated on me when I was there but now I don't feel so bad because this supposed to be a son of your soil.
