Thulean & Totally Evil to renew rivalry @ August Tuesday Races
Totally Evil was handed a shock defeat by Thulean at the Pre-August Festival Races; however, the two horses from St Thomas, US Virgin Islands (USVI) clash again in the feature race for a purse of $25,000 plus added fees, according to the official race card released by the Virgin Islands Horse Owners Association.
Thulean had recorded a thrilling victory over Totally Evil, who was enjoying an 8-race unbeaten run, coming from more than 8 lengths back to pip Totally Evil in the 1 1/16 mile encounter. The winning time was 1:52.1.
The big money race for the coveted Premier's Cup on Tuesday will be run over a distance of 1 1/8 miles.
My Running Mate, which had won the Class C&D race for horses for a purse of $6,200.00 of 7 furlongs on July 7, 2019, is the other horse from St Thomas in the mix for the Premier’s Cup.
Representing the Virgin Islands would be Moonlight Bandit, owned by Dion Stevens, Giant Valley of Top Priority Racing Stables and Chovanes of The Boys Racing Stables.
Chovanes has been entered into the ‘big league’ after winning the 6 1/2 furlong race for Class A & B horses on July 7, 2019.
Meanwhile, 20 horses from St Thomas will be competing at the August Festival Races at Ellis Thomas Downs in Sea Cows Bay, Tortola, on Tuesday August 7, 2019.
