DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI - The Speaker of the House of Assembly Honourable Julian Willock has announced in a public notice that due to the spike in COVID-19 he is “restricting visitors to the gallery for the Speech from the Throne scheduled for Tuesday, January 18, 2022.”

The Speaker noted that “out of an abundance of caution, no invitations will be sent out to the public or Public Officers,” to attend the sitting in person.

Governor will be there in person

His Excellency, the Governor John J. Rankin will deliver the Speech in person at the Save the Seed Energy Centre located in Duff’s Bottom on the main island of Tortola.

The Sitting is to start at 10:00 AM and residents are strongly encouraged to listen to the Speech from the Throne and the House Sitting of Tuesday, January 18, 2022, via ZBVI 780 AM.

The live broadcast will also be available via CBN 90.0 FM, the House of Assembly Youtube (House of Assembly VI) and Facebook (House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands) pages, and Flow TV Channel 101 according to the Speaker’s public announcement.  

Final year Legislative agenda to be announced in Speech

At the First Sitting of the Fourth Session of the Fourth House of Assembly, the Speech from the Throne that will be delivered by the Governor is written by the Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) and his Government. 

It is expected to set out the Administration’s legislative agenda for their final year ahead of General Elections that are constitutionally due in 2023.
