Three arrested with one charged in human trafficking probe- RVIPF

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Information coming out of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is that a number of persons have been arrested following the execution of a search warrant on Thursday, February 2, 2023, in relation to an ongoing major investigation into human trafficking in the Territory.

Police said as a result of the search, three persons were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking, and one female, Genette Colastin 37, from Pockwood Pond was subsequently charged on February 4, 2023, with various human trafficking offenses.

“The other two persons were released pending further investigation. Four persons who are believed to be victims of human trafficking from another island were rescued. They are now in the hands of the Immigration Department,” police said.

Probe is complex & far-reaching - Top Cop 

According to the release, the Police Commissioner Mr Mark Collins said that the investigation is a complex one that is far-reaching, “human trafficking also known as modern-day slavery is a problem all over the world. If you have any suspicion of human trafficking, I urge you to call Crime Stoppers anonymously on 800 8477,” he said.

Police said that given the investigation remains ongoing, the force will not be making any further comments on the matter.

      @watcher because of greed and selfishness. Everyone involved deserves to be tossed away. All future jobs and opportunities have been demolished. She and a lot more fairly young people who’s about that extra bread will be regretting it soon enough

    Weak people show off and take advantage of the small man. That's what the Force is doing. The Street knows that this trafficking goes up the ladder, the force knows that also but they afraid to touch those at the top, who are mostly responsible,. So, it continues ..
