GREAT HARBOUR, JvD, VI – Thousands of revelers on Friday, December 31, 2021, rang in the new year January 1, 2022, in grand style at the Foxy’s world-famous Old Year’s Night party on Jost van Dyke.

Dubbed ‘The Biggest Party of 2021’ and sporing an under the sea theme, the white sandy beaches around Foxy’s Tamarind Bar were filled with both locals and tourists as they bid farewell to 2021 and welcomed 2022 at the traditional Old Year’s Night bash.

As part of the entertainment, the ticketed event featured Jamaican reggae/dancehall singer Ce'Cile as the headlining artist and other performers included Noise Cans and Max Cabello Jr with local DJ’s keeping the crowds entertained.

Three access levels

The venue also featured an Upper Crust VIP area at the bar, a Breach Front Access area, and a General Admission area all with various levels of access to food and drinks.

Persons partying into the morning also had access to hourly ferry service provided by New Horizon Ferry Services Ltd.

The Ferry service had several runs on Old Years Day with hourly departures from JvD on January 1, 2022, from 1:00 am to 3:00 am and at 7:00 am in the morning.

The Old Year’s Night party also came at a time when the territory experienced a huge surge in COVID-19 cases, with some 423 active cases as of December 31, 2021.

Everywhere outside the BVI scaled back on their New Year celebrations by limiting crowds. Thousands at Foxy’s you say? Big super spreader.

The whole thing should have been canceled. With so many new cases everyday you would think people would just have a bit more basic common sense.

The party folks need to have fun and the bar owners need to make money. The health services may not be able to cope but who cares? The answer is: many could care less until it affects them personally (losing loved ones, being laid off, virtual schooling, etc.). Selfishness will be our demise.

Now you know you are trying to sugar coat after you all got called out for being irresponsible and plain out selfish for your actions. What is you point. You and everyone put yourselves and others at risk and you should have known better.

@ what the hell. You are a liar. There were more unmasked people than masked. There was no social distancing and people were all up in each other’s faces. I wore a mask and stayed back watching and then went home. You may have orchestrated it, but it quickly got out of hand. The people mingling away from the bars was unbelievable, so you stop spreading crap. We live here and saw the madness from afar and went home.

This actually was an amazing event and as an artist I felt very safe. Most people who entered legally had to show lots of documents to prove current vaccinations and Covid-19 test results. Even as an artist I had to wear a mask when entering the outback at Foxy’s the staff and everyone on Jost Van Dyke was amazing. If you weren’t there hopefully you will get the opportunity in the near future to see how amazing the BVI is. God bless you all and Happy New Year.

The virus is not going anywhere. We have vaccines and treatments. Live your life and move on.

Our numbers definitely going go up. Regardless if you’re vaccinated you can still test positive for Covid and you can still pass it on to others. Omicron and Delta definitely had a spot on line up over there.
