SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- Two residents of District 3, Ms Kishma P. Forbes of Virgin Islands School and Office Supplies and Mr Julian Willock of Advance Marketing and Professional Services, have teamed up to host what they are hoping to be an annual event: a Back-to-School Giveaway for students in the district.

The back-to-school event will take place on Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 12:00 noon until 5:00 PM at Ebenezer Thomas Primary School Grounds, located in Sea Cows Bay.

Ms Forbes in a press release on August 21, 2023, noted that the group will be catering for about 100 students, and it will be an evening filled with children’s entertainment, motivational speeches, snacks, and music.

Ms Forbes also expressed her gratitude to the many sponsors and those who contributed individually and other volunteers.

Mr Willock stated that while this is not the first back-to-school event in District 3, “We are simply building on the legacy of others who have done this including the Third District Representative Hon Julian Fraser, RA and many other churches in the district.”

More events coming for District 3

Mr Willock noted that “a group of us are working on some other plans in District Three, including a Job Fair, another food pantry, a farmer’s market, and bringing a troupe from District Three for the 70th anniversary of the Emancipation Festival Parade in 2024”.

It is his hope to partner with Hon Fraser to make many of the initiatives possible.

Mr Willock said that he was happy to be a part of a group that plans to collaborate with Hon Fraser to help him continue his work by revitalising District 3.

Both Ms Forbes and Mr Willock encouraged parents in District 3 to bring their children out to this event.

Thus far, sponsors include Nanny Cay Hotel and Marina, Caribbean Insurance Limited, Therapy Works, Dion A. Stoutt of STO Enterprise Ltd, Hon Lorna G. Smith OBE, B & G Marine Services, Aromas Cigar & Martini Bar, Legacy Auto, Coconut Lounge, De La Santa Bakery, Milton C. McLean and Clive L. McCoy.

Ms Forbes said that there is still an opportunity to make donations by calling 442-4767 or 541-1119.

The people in d3 that I have spoken to have been just very excited about some of the stuff that they are planing to do. I want to join the d3 troupe. The job fair is needed for sure.

It’s always good when regular people come forward to help from just criticizing and not only depending on government, this is truly very encouraging.

I am no fan of Willock, but for the sake of the bvi the vip needs to run an energetic, highly qualified, articulate, fearless, candidate who understands the root causes of what ails district 3 as well as who is practical, professional, has long-term sustainable solutions for both the district and the bvi. I Submitt that person is Hon Julian Willock

As a friend of willock and a cousin of Kishma, It feels amazing to see something like this come to life. I am sure this event took months and months and months of work with lots of meetings so to have it come to fruition is beautiful

    We with willock in d3
