'The NDP must go'! – Rajah A. Smith
He said these words while speaking as one of several panelists on Wednesday night November 26, 2014 on the VIP’s radio show 'Let’s Talk' aired between 8:00 PM and 9:30 PM on ZBVI 780 AM.
“I think that the current government [under] the National Democratic Party is a threat to democracy,” said Smith on the show.
He said that if one is to go around the country, one would witness the divisive techniques the NDP is using, putting people against each other and trying to turn neighbours into strangers and leading by deception “from one untruth to the next from the Premier down.”
Smith, who was very brief in his statement, pledged to continue to agitate against the NDP Government “until they are gone.”
He urged the youths to rally around the VIP and lauded the party’s leadership for its stewardship of the Territory in times past.
During the talk show, Chairman of the VIP Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3), past Chairman of the VIP and Leader of the Opposition Hon Ralph T. O’Neal OBE (R9), Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) and President of the VIP Carvin Malone all addressed listeners over the airwaves and streaming on the internet regarding various issues of national concern and their plans to take the Territory forward as a party.

Another expat owns a boat yard, builds boats, repairs and acts as a dealer for other US based companies. The business also employs about 15 persons. This gentleman has right now as I'm writing, a passenger size boat sitting in his boat yard, completed designed and built by his company, waiting to be shipped to Anguilla. In other words, he builds and exports boats. Go down to Nanny Cay and you will find a similar scenario; or visit the Virgin Gorda Boat Yard and you will begin to understand what Mr. frazer is harping about. There's one more boating profession I missed; highly skilled Boat Captains that deliver vessels from just about anywhere in the world to BVI and BVI to wherever. Now go and have a conversation with Frazer.
Who owns the Bvi tourism businesses? that's right; expats.
Who pays to advertise the tourism businesses?. That's right. We do; through the Tourist Board; whose budget is upwards of $15-million annually. Now, one more question: who owns the yachting businesses, the scuba dive operations. Recently an expat was welcomed into the territory bringing 3 sport-fishing boats and wants to add more. Frazer wants to change that; not to take away anything from h expats; but to make sure Virgin Islanders are getting their share, in their country.
I am not a fan of any particular party. I am for the best possible representation of our country, whoever they happen to be. However, a "Good Idea" is a good idea wherever it comes from. Mr. Frazer's proposal is a damn good idea. Period.
By the way I have nothing against expats. As an expat, when you go into a country and are welcomed with open arms, and when then look around and see business opportunities staring you in the face, I say, go right ahead).
We talk a hell of a lot about creating jobs, which means opening our doors to who so ever will; making it as easy as possible to do business by giving away the public's moneys by way of sweet deals, Duty-Free exemptions and other goodies. I say, a lot of the jobs we want to create, are already here; but our people, just as Frazer sees it, need to be prepared. It is the case with our tourism, Financial Services, Real Estate services, Legal services, the marine industries and just about everything else. Let's not let our selfish party bickering hold us back. There is a bold new future awaiting BVI-slanders; but we have to be BOLD and go after it.. Let's di it folks. ''Love conquers all things"
