ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Former First Lady and now Territorial At Large-elect Mrs Lorna G. Smith, OBE has said she is fired up and ready to get to work for the people of the Virgin Islands.

Mrs Smith of the National Democratic Party (NDP) ended as the second highest vote getter in the At Large race with 3578 votes, when general elections were held Monday, April 24, 2023.

Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM) first-time candidate Stacy Mather garnered the most votes, 3617.

The other At Large candidates elected were Sharie B. de Castro (3471) of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) and Ronnie W. Skelton (3332) of PVIM.

“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the votes you gave me yesterday, which means today I can declare victory as a winner of one of the at-large seats,” Mrs Smith said in a statement today, April 25, 2023.

Fire ‘will not easily die down’- Lorna G. Smith

Mrs Smith, who has a stellar record as a public servant and is considered a financial services guru, says she is now ready to get working for the people.

“The election campaign has lit a fire inside me - one that will not easily die down. One that will make me question, scrutinise and probe every government policy to ensure it achieves the best for you!

“As you know, throughout my campaign I have remained steadfast in my belief that the best days of the BVI are ahead, however, there is much to do if we are to achieve that.”

Mrs Smith said as discussions over the Government’s formation will continue, the VI people can rest assured that their objectives in electing her will be at the top of her mind.

“As far as I am concerned the work starts now! Thank you again, for your trust in me – now let’s work together to get it done!”

An episode of Scandal in the BVI Ms. Olivia Pope.

A person with the Ahab spirit is particularly vulnerable to someone with the Jezebel spirit. Because the Jezebel spirit is controlling, domineering, and rules by threat, fear, sexual seduction, and punishment or reward depending upon whether they are obeyed, a person with the Jezebel spirit can easily rule over someone with the Ahab spirit forever, unless they are stood up to, which is exactly what Elijah did. Someone with the Elijah Spirit (the Holy Spirit of God) is particularly hated by the Jezebel spirit because they refuse to tolerate evil. Whenever there is tolerance of, working around, and making excuses for Jezebel, you know the Ahab spirit is at work.

After all the pulling and fighting for power, this could work out to be the best decision to move this country forward. We now must realize that Lorna have worked closely with both VIP and NDP. Some things might have changed, but she is coming with experience that can work for our benefit if she have people and country first. We'll just make sure that we pay close attention to what is happening around us. This is our country and these people work for us!

She has not joined the VIP. She will be able to keep an eye on them-for us. Which is good.
