Terminators terminated!

Just Dream led by Marquis Canice's 24 kills, 4 blocks and 5 digs defeated the Terminators in the first Men's game of the 2012 BVIAVA Power League.
Phoenix Red overcame Phoenix Black with a four set victory in the Women's Division despite Erica Fredericks 8 kills, 1 block, 2 digs and 1 ace.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – New Boys, Just Dream kicked off the BVI Amateur Volleyball Association 2012 Power League on Saturday February 11, 2012, by beating defending Champions, the Terminators, in a five-set thriller.

The 2012 season began with nine of the 13 teams participating in the opening ceremony where BVIAVA President Sabinah Clement outlined a series of new initiates the Association will undertake during the year.

Included in the plans for the sports continued development through 2012 are taking delivery of a new Sport court outdoor synthetic surface, hosting of world cup qualifiers, development of beach volleyball, signing a sponsorship deal with Mizuno and the introduction of a B Division for high schools - Elmore Stoutt High School, Seven Day Adventist School, Cedar School and St. Georges Secondary School.

Following the traditional “first serve” by Clement, the season kicked off with and exhibition match between the Legends and the Phoenix combined team. The Legends rushed to a straight sets victory.

Then came the opening day drama as the defending Champs, the Terminators, went down to Just Dream, a combination of former team Just Bless and the Moorings Dream Team. Canice Marquis led the way with 24 kills, 4 blocks and 5 digs as Just Dream secured a five set victory 25-17, 24-26, 25-18, 22-25, 15-13.

Drexel Glasgow recorded 14 kills, 1 block, 7 digs and 2 aces for the Dream who also got 7 kills, 5 blocks, 4 digs and 1 ace from Travas Jack.

For the Terminators, Neville Brathwaite scored 10 kills, 1 block, 15 digs and 4 aces, Frandy Martin had 12 kills, 6 blocks, 10 digs and 2 aces and Damien Creque returned 13 kills, 4 blocks and 6 digs.

On Sunday, the Women’s Division got underway with Phoenix Red defeating Phoenix Black in 4 sets 25-13, 25-13, 18-25, 25-20, with Tyalia Nibbs scoring 3 kills, 1 dig and 9 aces for the Reds. Sabinah Clement had 5 kills, 6 digs and 6 aces along with Amadona Creese who recorded 6 kills, 1 block, 1 dig and 4 aces.

For Phoenix Black Erica Frederick – 8 kills, 1 block, 2 digs and 1 ace, whilst Louanne had 4 kills, 2 digs and 3 aces.

The last game of the day saw the Future defeat Raw Power in straight sets, 25-12, 25-14, 25-9.

Top scorers for Future were Akeem Robinson with 8 kills, 6 digs, 1 ace; Clyde Potter Jr. with 7 kills, 6 digs.

Trevor Burrell with 6 kills, 5 digs; Cedric Thomas with 5 kills, 1 block, 2 digs, 2 Aces and Paul with 5 kills, 2 digs, 3 Aces.

    these team got to do a better job of letting we know when dem have games...I am a big volley ball girl and did not know about deeds games....
