SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- The Sea Cows Bay Methodist Church is past the half way mark to raising some $50, 000 for the purchase and installation of a brand new Air Conditioning (AC) system in the church.

Last night, July 27, 2023, the church held its largest fundraiser, a telethon, which netted just over $20, 000.

The telethon hosted by church member Mrs Karia J. Christopher ran on a number of radio and TV platforms for some three hours and featured discussuons wirh a number of panelists.

According to guest on the first segment of the show Mr Jermey Maduro, those who attend the Church currently will attest to the fact that it is far from being comfortable due to the non-functioning of the AC system.

According to information reaching our news centre, though the AC, which suffered damages during the hurricanes of 2017, has been constantly repaired and serviced over the years, its is now beyond repair and a new system is absolutely necessary.

$20,250.00 raised

Our news center was also informed that $20,250 was raised via the telethon.

"Prior to that we received some pledges and other fundraisers of approximately $18,000, yielding us approximately $38,000. While we did not reach the target amount we will continue to accept pledges from the public and resume our fundraising activities. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from the community," a member of the congregation associated with the fundraising efforts told our news centre.

The two largest donors so far has been the Third District Committee and an anonymous donor. Both gave $5,000.

The public can still call to make their pledge by contacting the church on 545 2487.

During the telethon last night, it was also established that the Sea Cows Bay Methodist Church is equally of service to the general public as it is to members for various activities and events.

Malicious aren’t you? None of the pledgors were made public. Some people need not be made part of events. No confidentiality.
