Technical Drawing teacher sent to prison for 12 months!

Allegedly squeezed a student’s buttocks
Roach will spend the next 12 months in prison.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A 42 year-old Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) teacher will spend the next 12 months in prison for the alleged indecent assault of a 13 year-old female student.

Bentley Roach whose trial concluded last November, looked stoic when Magistrate Tamia Richards rendered her decision on Friday, April 20, 2012.

According to court records, the technical drawing teacher had allegedly caressed the palms of the student, hugging her and squeezing her left butt cheek in his office.

The incident allegedly occurred on May 25, 2011 after the student had gone to talk to Roach of an altercation that had occurred between her and another ESHS student.

Roach is a married man with five children and lived in the Virgin Islands for over a decade. He hails from Barbados.

He was represented by Patrick Thompson.

Advances were made by this man to another Elmore Stoutt High School student who put him in his place and promised to call the police and she received a C+ when she was getting A+ in her exams. The mother made representation to one of the Assistant Principals and nothing came of it. I hope that this will be looked into further.

My dear, teachers are every where, public system and private schools. Don't assume your child cannot be abused or harassed in a private school.
