‘Taxi Commission needs to go home!’ – Lorrie A. Rhymer
“We have a taxi commission that does absolutely nothing, they need to go home, the need to resign and to go home, pack up their stuff and go home!” he said on the Speak Out BVI radio show aired on April 22, 2014.
According to Rhymer, the Commission is supposed to be informing taxi drivers of impending danger and it was not doing so.
Rhymer, who said he was speaking on his own behalf, contended that agreements signed between the BVI Ports Authority and two other entities, Norwegian Cruise Line and Disney Cruise Line, were ‘not in the best interest of the Virgin Islands’.
He expressed that the agreements required taxi drivers to purchase at least $2M of insurance coverage and this would mean that most taxi drivers would have to drop out since they cannot afford the cost.
He offered that this would give cruise companies the opportunity they wanted which was to bring their own vehicles and transport their own people. “I think that this is a disaster it is an impending doom for the taxi drivers in this country,” Rhymer stated.

I am telling anyone who now enjoy the use of Wickhams Cay for recreation, and for the lunch time beauty & scenery get as much of it now, because that land that Decastro, Lloyd and all those who fought for it, the NDP has given it to Norwegian and Disney, selling their birthright for a morsel of meal.
When you see the carnage that NDP is leaving in their path, I ask myself, did you all not learn from the last time? Did you all not remember? How could you make that dreadful mistake and put them in again? Is fancy suits you all had wanted to see so? You could have gone to any one of those stores, Royal Shop, they would have given you a discount even and you could have dressed yourself up if pretty suit is what you wanted to see.
