SLANEY POINT, Tortola, VI- Regarded as one of the strongest vehicle brands in the world, Volkswagen is for the first time available for sale in the Virgin Islands.

Several models of Volkswagen were unveiled outside the showroom of Tortola Auto Group (TAG) at Slaney Point, Tortola on March 25, 2019.

“This has been long in coming and we are happy this day has arrived, stated Senior Sales and Marketing Executive at TAG, Mr Gordon U. French.

The models on display included Caddy, Saveiro, Polo, Jetta, Tiguan, and Amarok (pickup). The Polo model was voted Car of the Year in 2010.

Mr French added TAG will be seeking to bring more SUVs, while persons can order other models currently not available at TAG.

“We are committed to providing the servicing and parts for this brand and we are so much pleased to have a wide range of the Volkswagen vehicles on offer today. Other models can be ordered. This is just a sample of what can be had.”

Tortola Auto Group started in 2015 with the Hyundai brand, which has been the top selling vehicle in the VI for the past three years, and last year Ford and Honda were added to the ever growing car dealer’s inventory. The addition of the internationally respected brand as Volkswagen, which was the largest automaker by worldwide sales in 2016 and 2017, speaks of the growing strength and diversity of TAG.

2 Volkswagen vehicles already sold

Meanwhile, two Volkswagen vehicles were sold even before the official unveiling on Monday and the proud owners were presented with gift baskets at the unveiling.

Michelle Vitug and Arnel Soller purchased a Jetta sedan while Philipp and Sophie Neumann opted for the Tiguan comfort line.

Mr Nuemann, who is the German Honourary Consul to the Virgin Islands (UK), said one of his vehicles was of the Volkswagen brand and that he was glad to see the brand now available in the Virgin Islands.

TAG has stated in the past that part of its strategic expansion plans is to increase its inventory by offering a wider selection of globally recognised brands for customers to choose from.

“We are happy that so many persons have entrusted TAG with supplying their vehicles . As you know Hyundai was the number one selling brand in the BVI last year. Now we are adding Volkswagen to ensure there is something for everyone here at TAG,” Mr French added.
