ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The spectacular and highly anticipated calendar event, Summer Sizzle BVI 2021, has been postponed.

The high-profile event in the Caribbean was scheduled for July 21 through 26, 2021.

Control measures will affect event- Terry T. Donovan

But according to Founder and CEO of Summer Sizzle BVI, Terry T. Donovan, due to the sudden surge in COVID-19 cases in the [British] Virgin Islands, Summer Sizzle BVI 2021 has been postponed until further notice.

“Over the last two weeks, the increased number of positive cases has skyrocketed, prompting the British Virgin Islands Government to re-instate certain measures and implement some new ones that will affect the summer Sizzle BVI production,” Donovan said in a press release on July 7, 2021.

The territory has reported some 659 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of July 7, 2021. Just a week ago on July 1, the cases were 91 active conformed cases, representing an increase of 624% in just 7 days.

“Like you, we were excitedly preparing for an exciting and safe event in which everyone was vaccinated and following the CDC guidelines. Though we would have been prepared, the current status of the pandemic in the BVI warrants that we canceled the event in an abundance of caution and to avoid the further spread of the virus,” Donovan added.

Further announcement next week

The CEO said Summer Sizzle BVI we will monitor the situation and make every effort to stay abreast with the Government of the Virgin Islands and, more so, the Ministry of Health and Environment for updates and will make a further announcement next week.

“We are praying for everyone’s safety.”

Meanwhile, Donovan shared that he believes getting vaccinated is a personal choice.

“However, we encourage you to do the required research and make the best decision to protect yourself and your loved ones.”
