ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – With the Baby Phat brand re-launch a huge hit with the crowds, the 11th Annual BVI Summer Sizzle 2019 was dubbed a massive success with some 98% of the seat filled at the main glamour event, according to organisers.

Models strut the runway

The feature event, the Global Glamour Runway Show, held yesterday Saturday July 27, 2019, at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town, Tortola, saw models line the runway showcasing exquisite collections from Mondo Guerra and Korto Momolu, alongside top regional and local designers including Giannina Azar from the Dominican Republic, Uzuri International from Jamaica, Shernica Myers from St Vincent and the Grenadines, Norma Ebanks from Cayman Islands, along with Kristin C. In an appeal to those present, he told patrons and locals to continue their cherish and love for the territory, and to keep promoting the Virgin Islands (VI).

Former Acting Chief Immigration Officer, Mrs Geraldine A. Ritter-Freeman also made a special surprise appearance on the runway, displaying an African themed fashion piece custom-designed by herself

Children shine

Kicking off the runway show, a record 40 children were the first on stage presenting designs from, Rochelle Ebanks out of the Cayman Islands along with collections from Andrew Harris and Andrew Nowell.

While the event was the spectacle we come to expect from the Summer Sizzle brand, it was not without a small hiccup, as one model fell while struggling to walk in heels.

Present at the event were also Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Legislators, Hon Neville A. Smith (AL) aka ‘Sheep’, Minister of Culture, Dr The Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), along with House Speaker, Hon Julian Willock.

The event, dubbed as the ‘Fashion Event of the Year’, also featured performances from international artiste Citiboi, alongside the VI’s best entertainers and DJs.
