Summer apprentices to be dispatched across public & private sectors on Monday

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- After undergoing an orientation session, the first batch of more than 200 summer apprentices will be dispatched across the public and private sectors from Monday, May 18, 2026.

The orientation session was facilitated by the Virgin Islands Public Service Learning Institute, according to the Government Information Service (GIS), and the apprentices are now ready for deployment.

The session on May 15, 2026, was attended by Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), Deputy Governor David D. Archer Jr, and Acting Labour Commissioner Mervin D. Hastings, who encouraged the apprentices to give of their best always.

The Virgin Islands Public Service Institute is the instructional and governing body for the training and development of all new and existing public officers and will endeavour to ensure officers have the necessary skills and abilities needed to carry out their duties.
