‘Successful engagement’ held with students, VI residents @ BVI House London – Hon Wheatley

-Premier said team was able answer questions & come up with solutions to challenges

London, UK – Virgin Islands Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) said as part of his trip to the United Kingdom, he was able to engage with persons from the VI as well as students on a number of matters in the VI.

In a statement on November 12, 2023, the Premier said he engaged on a number of matters in the VI, "We are here at BVI House in London, we just had an excellent dialogue with students and residents from the Virgin Islands right here in London."

The Premier was at the time in London for the Joint Ministerial Council (JMC) between Overseas Territories (OTs) Leaders and UK Government Ministers in London, United Kingdon. 

“They asked so many intelligent, engaging questions like how do we mitigate and adapt against the ill effects of climate change? How do we develop our agriculture and fisheries sector? How do we deal with the cost of living in the Virgin Islands?,” Dr Whealtey said. 

He added that questions included how does the VI make it easier for persons to return to the VI and how can persons continue to contribute to the development of the Virgin Islands while living abroad?”

Solutions discussed on issues 

The Premier said as part of the dialogue, persons present were able to extend solutions, and discuss all types of different ideas in terms of the VI can better engage persons in the diaspora and help the the  Virgin Islands in various areas. 

He also extended gratitude to the Acting Director, of the BVI House London Miss Tracy Bradshaw. And the team for facilitating this event, which he called a successful engagement with our students and residents.

The JMC meeting sees political leaders of the Overseas Territories and the UK Government Ministers meeting annually to discuss the relationship between the UK and its Overseas Territories.

    is providing to be a wrong political choice. wasting good funds traveling. not much return comes from the money and mostly the ministers enjoys the paid vacations
