SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI – Virgin Islands Party (VIP) candidate for the Third Electoral District, in the 2023 General Elections Mr Kevin C. Smith aka OJ, despite an unsuccessful attempt at winning a seat in the House, this morning May 1, 2023, took some timeout to deliver a motivational speech to a group of local primary school students.

“This morning I had the distinct pleasure of speaking with the students of the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School. They were attentive and responsive, the future is prosperous with these engaging and enthusiastic young persons,” he said in a post shared online.

Mr Smith, speaking to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), said his speech comes as part of a project he usually does yearly, given he is an alumnus of the primary school.

“Historically, I give motivational speeches for the kids at the assembly. I started doing that in 2011 up until the hurricanes. I have [now] resumed.”

Speech to encourage future inside them - Mr Smith

“Today was to encourage them their future is inside of them and it starts with their choices today; to be attentive in class, dutiful with assignments, and diligent in all things,” he added.

Mr Smith noted that his speech today was a message he intends to reinforce throughout the years with the children amongst others, and have committed to doing weekly presentations.

Mr Smith ran in the recently concluded General Election for the Third District, losing out of the D3 seat to the incumbent Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3).

To the many negative sayers against OJ, the election is over. AP may have gotten more votes than him but AP did not win. OJ is doing something positive for our youth, something that he has done before. I applaud him for doing it. Our youth need this kind of positive engagement. Not everything is about a show and tell - meaning doing something for reward. OJ has given to many a person over the years who were in need, but you never heard him bring it out in public. That is the way it should be. This young man has a lot more to give and with God's help, he will be victorious. Kudos OJ. Keep it up.

More people should follow this example in all our schools both public and private schools. Good job.

Ayo go ahead studying Fraser and others wrongfully branding people to get power and keep it, as soon and very soon some of you will regret it.

I sincerely PRAY that the race in the 3rd would be between OJ and Parillon, Fraser need to part ways. He has done great things for the district, but do so.moving forward from a mentoring angle.

Him and his SELFISH ambition is why he's in the opposition. Instead of the bloody government. WE HAD ENOUGH!!! Anyhow you see he run and win again we marching in the 3rd eh!!
