ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Students of First Impressions Primary had elections in their classrooms yesterday, April 24, 2023, which was also Elections Day in the Virgin Islands.

With their own creations of billboards, stickers, ballots and ballot boxes in hand, winning candidates were chosen from among their peers.

According to a press release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) today, April 25, 2023, one of the teachers even requested the help of an officer from the Royal Virgin Islands Police to “ensure that the elections process was carried out peacefully”.

Constable Omanny Joe willingly stopped by the school to provide the needed assistance while on patrol around the various election polling stations in the district.

Great idea. However as we can see, democracy is dead in this country! Everyone is about self and power. They take your votes then use the power you gave them to trample over you without any regard for the message you have tried to voice by voting. Give it up kids! Democracy is dead! Thanks for the perfect example Lorna. Enjoy your selfish privilege on the backs of the people.

What an excellent gesture by the police to participate in these mock elections and an excellent way for the students to learn about the election process. Great job to the teachers of the school and the RVIPF. These are small ways to help to continue to move the country forward.

This was indeed an awesome teaching and learning experience. Learning about the democratic election process at their level is preparation for future leaders and employees. Best time to impart knowledge. Truly a great job by the teachers and police officer who participated in the activity.
