‘Strong lineup of horses’ for Salute to Service races in STT on Sunday

ESTATE BOVONI, St Thomas, USVI- More than 35 horses are slated to compete in the Salute to Service horse races at Clinton E. Phipps Sr Racetrack in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

Seven races are carded for the day, with the feature race being a 7-furlong battle among Class A horses, and featuring Pure Speight, Unsociable, Laser Sharp, Friar Lawrence and Modern Lane.

2024 Governor’s Cup Champion, Ghostinyou of Tortola, will be in action in Race #4, and will be challenged by fellow Class B horses Quincy Café, Royal Act, Mundo Mix, and Buck Master over 7 1/2 furlongs.

It is unclear whether Lesmore Smith, the owner of Ghostinyou, is fielding other horses, as he did not respond to our request for information.

‘Strong line up of race horses’- Shaine Gaspard

The race card is in honour of US military veterans.

“We have a strong lineup of race horses, and what we’re very proud of is honouring our Veterans with a Salute to Service at the Clinton Phipps Sr. Racetrack.

“Owners, trainers, and jockeys are all coming together to showcase their talent, making race day a full celebration of competition, community, and family fun,” Shaine A. Gaspard, Chief Operating Officer of Southland Gaming VI, told our News Centre.
